We are only interested in material close to our creative concept (listen to the latest releases, look at the websites of artists and YouTube with the performances of our artists, but the best guideline is the recently released new songs by our company.
We consider the material from everyone who wants to offer it, impartially. We are not interestedwhat age, gender, religion do you have, where, by whom and with whom do you work or worked, what kind of education do you have, do any of the “stars” sing your songs, are you a member of any unions, associations and lodges, do you have awards or a disability group, whether they won in competitions, whether collections of your works were released, or whether rights were registered. We recommend not writing about all this. We are interested in what you can offer us..
We don’t need, we even we will not listen to your portfolio - that is, material already sold to other artists or companies, recorded, published, sounding, which we obviously will not be able to use. We are only interested in the material that you offer us specifically (whether exclusive - it does not matter). We do not give individual tasks, we do not offer work to order to authors who earlier did not prove themselves to be the best, having already worked with us on a common basis.
We will consider copyright materials only on the condition that they reach us in accordance with these rules. We warn you separately, attempts to make personal acquaintances and contacts with company representatives, artists or personally with artists do not make sense: in the best unlikely event, your materials will be considered on an equal footing with the rest. And most likely - they will not be considered at all. Not a single person (including personally named artists) makes sole decisions on starting work with demo material.
Any negotiations are conducted only in case of interest or directly in the case of the selection of your material for further work.
Please don’t call, write or don’t come with the question “Is it right?” - if you are interested, we will contact you with the contact information you left approximately during two months.
We do not undertake to review, comment, and even more so to return material that did not suit us.
How to send the material?
The author's material for the artists of the company (including Lera Ogonyok, Andrei Bandera and the duet “Do not leave”) is accepted online only, through the site "People’s Producer". This applies to lyrics, and music, and demos of copyright songs that you want to offer for artists to perform.
Disks, prints and manuscripts with the material of the authors we not considering. Please do not send them and do not bring them. Do not send the material by e-mail to the contact addresses of the company - it will not be considered.
E-mail addresses [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], duetneuho[email protected] and others like that since October 10, 2015 do not act.
For all questions related to the registration and use of the site "People’s Producer", you can write to [email protected].
Attention! Search for vocalists in a new project!
For a new musical project, Soyuz Production Company looking for a soloist and soloist. Age: from 20 to 30 years. Genre: modern pop song, chanson.
Send demos (any songs you performed, photos, videos, information about yourself, contact details): [email protected]
Do we need new artists? Yes!
Producers of the Soyuz Production company accept demos (audio, video) from artists who want to work with the company to listen to demos. If it is highly appreciated, then the company will undertake production, if necessary, recording in a professional studio, publishing, perhaps, concerts will be placed in collections, publishing a solo album, promoting it on formatted radio stations and music television channels.
We are ready for joint production: if you include not only a creative project in your proposal, but also producer participation, including financial participation, this is the reason to take your idea and material even more carefully. But this is not a prerequisite.
Before reading further, please try to understand an important thing: we are a production company, which is primarily engaged in the creation and development of production projects, as well as the production of phonograms. And we do not deal with the placement and promotion of partner material on partner radio stations (performers who were not produced or recorded).
We are interested in material in a genre that is close to the concepts of “esthetic-chanson”, “modern Russian song” or high-quality Russian pop music. Maybe with elements of Russian rock (Garik Sukachev, DDT, Lyapis Trubetskoy, and so on). We pay great attention to the quality of the text, and music should help the performer convey the work to the listener.
There are a lot of interpretations of genres, it is difficult to determine, and, in general, it is not so important - send, we will listen. The ideal option is material that fits perfectly into our concept. It is difficult to describe it, just listen to our songs and releases, but the best guideline is precisely the work recently released by our company. We also recommend watching a YouTube channel with recordings of songs produced by us from different years.
We are a production company, and if you have a ready-made, high-quality recorded in the studio, mixed, compiled, mastered, ideologically holistic album that you only need to publish - most likely, you are not at the right place. As a rule, we work with performers, with their songs from scratch or at the starting stage - we help to make a good, interesting project and only then do the publication.
We do not conduct auditions without interest in the material. First you need to send a demo record. Send a CD (strictly CD-Audio, i.e. audio tracks) or DVD (DVD-video format, and not files) USB flash drives are also accepted (media does not return!). If you are afraid for your material, it’s enough to present demo-cut songs: a few verses + a chorus (if there is one), but, believe me, if the material is good, it is more profitable for us to cooperate with you long and honestly, and if it’s bad, it makes no sense to publish.
We recommend that you use original material for demos, not your interpretations of famous songs. Ideally, the music and text should be copyrighted, or for copyright and other rights to be ensured (at least preliminary agreements and contacts with authors). Or it can be folk songs, or those that have passed more than 70 years since the death of all authors.
The number of records does not matter, but write down exactly what you want to show, demonstrate. The best of what you have is what best represents you. It is more convenient if there is an opportunity to do so - when 12-14 tracks (per album), plus 2-4 additional recordings, for sampling.
When using a CD or DVD, please indicate short contact details, information about the artist and songs on the disc itself. This is an additional guarantee so that your material is not lost. Photos are taken electronically on a separate disk, or in the printing press.
Not accepted or listened in any way sent by email mp3, similarly sent links to any sites with audio recordings, links to social networks, personal sites, YouTube, and mailings paid by the recipient. It is not recommended to burn material to CD and DVD files! CD material must be recorded audio tracks (suitable for playback with a standard CD-player), material on DVD - in the format DVD video (that is, suitable for playback with standard DVD players). Sending demos on the media is an important condition, emphasizing for us the seriousness of your intentions to cooperate with us.
Please note that we will negotiate any further work with you only after listening to the material and only if it interests us. “In the presence” and, especially, in a live performance, the material is not considered.
Material is not peer-reviewed and non-refundable. If we do not contact you, then your creativity is simple for us not suitable. The only thing - if you need, contact by e-mail or by phone - has the material reached us. Please leave as large, detailed and up-to-date contact details as possible so that we can contact you, as well as the names of your compositions, in order to avoid annoying mistakes. Please don’t call, write or don’t come with the question “Is it right?” - if you are interested, we will contact you with the contact information you left approximately within two months after receipt. If we are not interested, we do not give either explanations or recommendations on where to go and what to do.
The Soyuz Production company enjoys great prestige in the Russian world. This is your chance!
With our active participation, Katya Ogonyok, Igor Slutsky, Anya Vorobey, Lyapis Trubetskoy, Murat Nasyrov, Victor Korolyov, Sergey Lyubavin, Hera Grach, Andrey Bandera, Tanya Tishinskaya, Rada Rai, Evgeny Ross, Sergey Tkach, Zhiga began their careers , Sergey Wild and others. Together with us, Alexander Marshal (ex- “Gorky Park”, “Flowers”, “Araks”), Vladimir Zakharov (the lead singer of the group), Vladimir Asimov (ex- “Na-Na”) became famous in the genre and gained considerable fame. Mikhail Shufutinsky, Mikhail Sheleg, Mikhail Gulko collaborate with us, in the last years of his life, Mikhail Krug worked a lot.
And it’s worth separately mentioning already made works, offered “as is” (in collections, special projects, and entire albums). The fundamental position of our company: the material must be of a very high level - this applies both to the work itself (music, poetry), and to performing skills, arrangement and the whole production of the song (recording, mixing, sound production). Theoretically, we could release everything that is brought to us - but what it will lead to, you can guess for yourself - to anything good. Therefore, from the recordings made without our participation, the company produces only the brightest, most talented, conceptually verified ones.
Mailing address for artist demos:
117133, Moscow city, PO Box 21, Soyuz Production Company.
Transfer the material to an employee in the company’s office, bring it personally to the office, leave it on guard, in a cupboard or somewhere else, slip it under the door or hang it on the door handle, etc. Transfer over the perimeter - it is impossible. No way.
We constantly select a significant amount of copyright material for work, and then we look for relevant and creative arrangement solutions that should put our new songs at least on a par with the brightest and most fashionable new items.
In addition to attracting full-time arrangers and regular studio partners, for this we use our unique development - the Internet project “Audio Producer”.
In fact, Audioproducer is an open job offer for arrangers and those willing to work remotely. Payment is also remotely made: to a bank account or card, QIWI-wallet, WebMoney, Yandex-Money, Skrill, PayPal - everything that is convenient for you. We conclude an agreement with everyone with whom we will begin work, according to which we guarantee payment for work that suits us and undertakes not to use the ideas, tracks and sounds we received from you without payment. Your rights are fully protected.
How it works?
You register on the site, leave contact information and get access to the database of arrangement tasks of the company for the songs selected for work. Each task consists of a demo recording of a melody recorded by the composer and the text of the task containing all our wishes for a future arrangement. Sometimes it also contains a separately recorded singer’s vocals, lyrics, outline of the arrangement, as we now see, interesting, but not completely satisfactory options for us, etc.
Before the task expires, you can download any number of solutions. You can work on any number of tasks. Your decision does not have to be a full arrangement for the entire duration of the song. A sketch is enough: introduction, couplet, chorus and, possibly, loss.
We understand that many of you do not have the means to use the most modern expensive equipment in your work. This is not the main thing for us. For us, the main thing is your creativity, an interesting vision of musical material, interesting sounds, finds and musical losses.
Producers and sound producers of Soyuz Production company get acquainted with all incoming decisions and choose the best. An important feature of the project is the complete anonymity of incoming decisions, until their final selection for work. Those who listen to the received material see only cipher codes that allow us to identify our future partner only in the future.
If you are interested in cooperation and choosing your arrangement for further work, we will pay for the work that you have already completed, or for individual ideas of tools, losses, etc. - all by prior arrangement, and, if necessary, the conclusion of a separate contract for the performance of work.
The work can be anything - from correction and further development of the arrangement you made, with which our regular sound producers and arrangers will continue to work, and until you order a full turnkey song for the multi-track.
We work with sound producers and arrangers who sent us interesting works, then we work “targeted”, that is, they become our regular partners.
Song writing
Before you sell a song, you need to write it. A good song can be sold expensively and quickly. The bad - cheap and never. We will not stop here, this is the topic of a separate book. I will answer only the most popular questions in the context of the sale:
Which is better (or easier): write songs to order or sell ready-made ones?
A vicious circle: if there is no portfolio - writing on an order is expensive. Orders are hard to find. Therefore, for starters, you need to build a portfolio with famous artists. Write ready-made songs and offer them to artists.
What style is better to write a song in order to sell it later?
If you want to work as an author professionally (get enough money not to do something else) - write in commercial genres. What you hear on the radio, TV. What is popular on the Internet. In narrow genres of money is not enough, if you sell something, it will be one-time and unsystematic.
What does it mean to “write a song”? What is included here?
A song is a melody and a text. In everyday life, these are the words of a song and the melody of how these words are sung. Here too is the melody of instrumental solos, if they are in the song.
Preparing a song for sale
The song is written. It is necessary to prepare it for sale, bring it into a salable condition. What this “presentation” is depends on your status, relations with a potential buyer and opportunities. If you are a well-known author and know the buyer personally, you can record a song on the recorder to the accompaniment of a piano, and that will be enough. They trust you, they will listen more carefully to such a "raw" product. If no one knows you, and you will send the demo by mail, it’s better to “comb” everything more carefully.
The logic is simple: the closer the demo to the final result, the less effort the buyer needs to make. No need to strain your imagination to appreciate how cool it is. No need to imagine how this might sound. If the song is already well arranged, the buyer has less hemorrhoids with the search for the arranger. There is less risk that it will turn out badly. You can charge more for it. Selling is faster.
Pack your song as high as possible:
- Make at least a simple arrangement.
- Record your voice in good quality. Sing it yourself or invite a vocalist.
- Make at least a basic mix.
We had examples of selling a dictaphone recording, where there were only voice + guitar or voice + piano. But it’s an order of magnitude more difficult to sell.
Can I sell the lyrics separately?
At the beginning of the journey it is very difficult. The text does not sell well. It is difficult enough to assess their quality and melodiousness. Most likely no one will do this. Only if there is a good portfolio. This way out: if you are the author of the lyrics, first try to find artists / composers and work with them for free. Develop your portfolio as you like. When it will be, it is easier to receive orders for text. You will be able to sell the text separately. At the initial stage, efforts to find a client for the text will not be offset by the amount you receive. In other words, spend a month, and get 3-5 thousand rubles. Not even enough for food.
Can I sell arrangements separately?
Can. In rap music, arrangements are sold much more often than entire songs. There it is a normal practice. In pop music, arranging is more difficult to sell. Find a songwriter partner to make and sell entire songs. Or work on order.
In other styles: rock, jazz, folk and others, the situation is more complicated. There are few sales on the market, small checks. If you find a buyer - this is more likely a happy event than regular work. There are fewer artists.
From the moment of creation, all copyrights apply to you and your work.
The work does not need to be registered in order to be considered its author and to be able to protect these rights. However, in case of contentious situations, you have to prove that it was you who wrote this song. To be able to do this, you can do one of the following:
Option 1: print out the notes of your song and lyrics. Copy the project from the sequencer to a CD (suddenly you have one) or a USB flash drive. Put everything in the letter. Send it as "custom" to your mail. The date will be on the envelope. Do not open it. A controversial situation arises - this will be done in court. So you can prove that on the indicated date, you already had a song. If your opponent cannot prove that he has a demo earlier than this date - most likely, the court will be on your side.
Option 2: deposit the song in the radioactive waste. They have such a service. The sequence is similar. Print out notes, words. Come to RAO. Pay for the service and give them printouts. That's all for you. If there is a court, everything is as in the first version.
Surely there are other options to prove your rights. Perhaps more modern. If you are a lawyer and know alternative methods - please comment.
Do I need to do this? You decide. I admit, I have never done this. And most of the authors with whom he worked too. But if you are sure that this is a super hit, and everyone around you wants to rob you - you can play it safe.
Customer search
Now the fun part. Where to look for customers?
The obvious option: sell to friends. The method is working and effective. I don’t see any reason to stop on it: there are acquaintances. Call me. Say there is a song. Send her. Or show in person at a meeting. If they like, negotiate the terms. Make a contract and sell.
What to do if there are few or no acquaintances in show business? The option is more frequent. We will talk about him further.
Step 2: Make contact with each artist or manager from the base
What does contact mean? This is a touch with a potential client - email, call, meeting. Displaying an advertising banner in this context can also be attributed to contacts.
What exactly do? You can do a massive Email-mailing immediately to all artists from the database. To do this, use specialized mailing list services such as MailChimp or UniSender. The good side is fast. We set up one template, clicked on the button and sent it immediately to everyone. Minus - no targeting. If you have many songs to sell, you won’t be able to choose whom to send. All will leave the same. Conversion to sales will be lower than when sending manually. There is a way out - to segment the database according to criteria (style, gender, etc.). But this is the topic of a separate article. Another drawback is the high probability of error. If the contact name is not specified correctly, then when substituting into the template, the letter will go away with a typo. If the base is assembled qualitatively, the likelihood of such an outcome is not great.
Is it spam? Formally - spam. Recipients did not consent to the inclusion of their addresses in the newsletter. Mail services can block you with regular shipments. So immediately provide the opportunity to unsubscribe. So that artists who are not interested can click on the button and no longer receive new letters.
Another option is to communicate with artists and managers through VK. From the pros - you get a lot more feedback. During the conversation, you can close the client’s objections. Perhaps offer other tracks, or sell custom songwriting services. Cons: it takes much longer. VKontakte has a restriction on sending messages to people who are not your friends. This figure is 20 per day. So if you want to send more, you need to register (or buy) more accounts. Pay attention to how he (the account) looks and whether it is credible. If you have 10 friends and no posts on the wall, selling a song for tens of thousands of rubles will not be easy for you.
What to write
Introduce yourself. Tell me who you are. If there are interesting works in the portfolio, briefly talk about them. Indicate where you came from. For example: "Found your contacts there." Immediately explain what you want: "I want to offer you some demos." Attach songs right away. So that the artist did not beg for them, he could quickly get to know and understand your level. Should he spend time on you or not.
How many songs to send?
There are no rules. Send only what you think is worthy of attention. If the material is weak, then there will be many two songs sent. Listen to the first, the second is gone. If the material is killer, then with 10 tracks can be found. Although 10 is perhaps too much. The optimal amount is from 2 to 6.
Step 3: Gather feedback and make repeated touches.
If your material is good, you will find a potential customer. If there was no answer, write again in a week. If you work through a special CRM system, you can set a reminder in the program itself. If even after that there was no answer, find the phone and call. Ask: “Got a letter? Have you heard the demo? ” If you were denied, ask permission to post a demo later.
So work for each artist and manager from the base. The larger the base, the more likely it is to find a customer. You will either sell the material or you will understand that nobody needs it. Knowing it hurts, but is helpful.
How much does an average song cost? What price tag to put?
Depends on the style, level of the song and the level of artists in your portfolio. In pop music - from 5000 rubles for very young and green, up to 500 000 - 1 000 000 rubles for large authors. On average in the market, for authors who have several works with famous artists in their portfolio, this is the level of 50 - 120 thousand rubles.
In rap, the whole song is rarely sold. If this happens, it is usually work on order. A more frequent selling position is an arrangement (bit). The price for it is, on average, lower than for pop music. Cases of selling bits more than 50,000 rubles are isolated. Basically it is 10 - 20 thousand rubles, for the author of the middle hand. For beginners, this can be 500 rubles.
If before this song was not sold, put a small price tag. Then there is a chance that if a song doesn’t seem like a hit to the artist, but he just likes it and he buys it. In reserve, that was. With an idea then to finalize. Not the fact that it will eventually come out, but you will receive the money.
Where to download the song?
It all depends on which platform you are contacting with the artist. If you offer songs through VKontakte, add to your audio recordings and attach immediately to the message.
If you send material by Email, it’s best to insert a link to stream the song so that the recipient can listen to it without downloading. You can use SoundCloud for this.
Some artists ask you to attach songs to the letter, and not give links. I cannot explain this with anything other than the fear of picking up a virus. Well, if they ask, attach it. However, if you work through the mailing list service, it will be difficult to do so. Most have restrictions on the size of attachments. On some, attach files, in principle, is impossible. If you send tracks only with attachments, the size of your mailbox will begin to grow rapidly, and the space will fill up quickly. Therefore, send streaming links.
With well-known artists to work more expensive?
In Russia, the following practice has developed: the more famous the artist, the less he pays. If you expect to come out of a well-known artist and sell him expensive - the idea is not great. In Russia, such work is more likely an advertisement. You will receive the bulk of the money from lesser-known customers who come in the portfolio. If you are already a well-known author, you can agree to work with a famous artist on royalty terms.
How to go to famous artists?
Globally - as well as on unknowns. Write letters, call, write in social networks. But there is a feature. When you try to work with famous artists on your way, there may be a filter in the form of a manager. And you will need to first convince him that the material is good. And he, in turn, will help convince the artist. Sometimes a manager is just the one you need. It is he who makes the decision. If the artist is on the label, there may be a creative producer who is responsible for the material. To you to him.
The rest of the situation is similar. Find contacts (which you can find). Write a letter. Waiting. Send the second (if you did not answer). Waiting. Call (if not answered). You’ll find out if the letter arrived, if you listened to the track. Get feedback. Then proceed according to circumstances.
How to sell a song to a label? Are there any features?
In fact, everything is the same. Looking for mail, send everything there. Of the minuses - much more such letters come to the mail of the label than to the mail of a single artist. But there is a plus - on the label, as a rule, there are A&R managers. Their work, including listening to all the material. Therefore, the probability that your song will be listened to is higher on the label.
Of the features: some labels will ask you to pay for a legal entity. No SP? Find someone who has it. And make an agreement with him. The scheme here will be as follows: you make an agreement on the transfer of rights to your friend. The second contract will be between him and the label.
Another interesting point - labels often buy songs cheaper than artists directly. There are exceptions, but overall, there is such a trend.
Can I sell remotely without a meeting?
Can. The procedure is usually as follows: negotiate with the customer about the cost and terms of the transaction. Prepare the contract. Indicate payment details in the contract, and add the following item:
After that, send the signed contract to the customer by e-mail. Further, he transfers you denyuzhku on the specified details. Optional: he may ask you to send a contract to the mail (not electronic). If asked, after payment go to the post office, stand in line and send the contract to the address indicated by the customer.
Agreement agreement
If you have completed all the previous steps correctly and reached this point - congratulations, you have a client! This article could have ended: if you have a person who is ready to pay you for a song, most likely you will understand the nuances of the contract. But I will help you here too.
What is important to discuss, in addition to the most obvious (price)? Under what conditions will you transfer the song: exclusive, non-exclusive license or through the alienation of rights. In Russia, the latter is most often used.
The license agreement allows you to be more flexible. You can transfer the rights to a song for a specific use only. Or in a certain territory (for example, only in Russia or in Ukraine). Or for a specific period (2 or 3 years).
What is the difference between an exclusive license and a non-exclusive?
When transferring rights under an exclusive license, you cannot transfer the rights to anyone else. Under a non-exclusive license, this is possible. But selling a song under a non-exclusive license is an out of the ordinary event. This can not even be called a sale. With hip-hop beats this happens - this is the so-called "leasing".
Is it possible not to sell a song, but to give a license for its use and receive royalties?
Yes you can. In the West, they rarely sell alienated songs. This is a local feature. There, the authors give the performer a license to record and use the track, while the author receives royalties. This is rare in Russia. We prefer to sell everything. Yes, and artists, it is often easier to buy. In this format, it makes sense to work only with a status artist. In this case, the amount of deductions can be much larger than what you earn from the sale. When working with a beginner, the amount of deductions may be close to zero. So it’s more profitable for you to sell all rights and get money. At the same time, even when transferring rights under a license, you can agree on payment at the time of signing the agreement in the form of a “fixed amount”. You will not receive it in the form of royalties, but immediately in your hands, like a license fee.
Can I sing my songs after the sale? For example, on creative evenings?
Depends on the terms of the contract. If you completely alienate all rights - no, you cannot. This moment should be discussed separately with the buyer and prescribed in the contract.
Can the customer indicate himself as the author of the song, since he bought it?
The right of the author to be called the author of the song is inalienable. Even if you yourself really want it and add to the contract a clause that you transfer the right to be called the author of the work to the customer. This will have no legal effect. And all this because of this article of the civil code of the Russian Federation:
